Graduate Admissions
SFAI’s graduate programs challenge students to engage in the critical thinking, discourse, in-depth theory, and practice that are essential for understanding and engaging with contemporary art and global society. The MFA, Low-residency MFA, and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate programs in the School of Studio Practice and the MA program in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies both offer environments in which students are encouraged to move from critical reflection to hands-on application (and back)—from dialogue and critique to revision and transformation. Under the guidance of our exceptional and accomplished faculty, and in continuous dialogue with their peers, graduate students at SFAI are prompted to reflect on the interconnection between art theory and art practice, the conceptual and the formal, the contemporary and the traditional, and the global and the local.
