City Studio’s programming offers the context of Bay Area urban sites and community facilities as a new kind of laboratory for artists’ research, practice, and social interaction as part of students’ coursework.
City Studio’s Year-Round Program for high school students was created by SFAI in partnership with Opportunity West in Richmond, the West Contra Costa Unified School District, the East Bay Asian Youth Center in Oakland, and Horizon’s Unlimited in San Francisco.
The program was originally made possible by support from the Walter and Elise Haas Fund. The program is supported by the Surdna Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Omnia Foundation, the San Francisco Foundation, the Comer Foundation, and the Wells Fargo Foundation.
